The New York Rangers hope to even the series on Wednesday against the Washington Capitals in Game 4.
New York started in a 0-2 hole after back-to-back losses in Washington, but they were able to pull off a 4-3 victory Monday night in their first game at home. Now, with the series 2-1, New York has the opportunity to even the series.
"All we were focused on is doing whatever we could to try to win a game," Rangers coach John Tortorella said after Monday's win. "We did that, and now we need to try to win one more game, and we'll see what happens from there."
Washington spent Tuesday recovering and didn't practice. The team, while understandably upset about losing Monday's close game, doesn't plan on letting the loss shift the momentum of the series.
"These guys have been through this before. It's playoffs. You're not going to win every games," Washington head coach Adam Oates said on Tuesday. "There are a lot of things we could fix. You have got to give them a little bit of credit."
The Capitals hope to get Alexander Ovechkin more involved in Game 4. Ovechkin was held scoreless in Monday's game despite logging 22 minutes of playing time.
"I don't think he was tired," Oates said. "I think that I didn't do a good enough job getting him in his rhythm, probably because of penalties."
With the exception of Darroll Powe, who was injured on Monday and is unlikely to play in Game 4, the Rangers continue to get healthy. Brian Boyle and Marc Staal both are playing in the series now, which gives New York greater depth.
If the Rangers can win Game 4, they will have Game 6 to look forward to at home.
The game starts at 7:30 p.m. ET. You can watch it HERE.
