Ohio State forward LaQuinton Ross and Indiana forward Noah Vonleh plan to declare for the 2014 NBA draft. Vonleh is "guaranteed" to be a lottery pick and could go as early as fifth overall, CBS Sports reports.
Ross will declare for the draft, according to ESPN's sources. The junior finished the season with 15.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, helping the Buckeyes to the second round of the NCAA Tournament before losing to Dayton, 60-59.
Adam Zagoria of NBA.com reported Ross would first speak with coach Thad Matta on Monday before announcing his decision. Ross led Ohio State in both scoring and rebounding.
Vonleh will also declare for the upcoming draft. The freshman confirmed his decision on Sunday to CBS Sports.
"It's going to suck leaving college without an NCAA Tournament," Vonleh said by phone. "But I have to do what's best for me."
Vonleh averaged 11.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game during the season, but it wasn't enough to propel the Hoosiers to a NCAA Tournament berth.
CBS Sports reports NBA sources as saying the 6-foot-10 freshman is "guaranteed" to go in the lottery and possibly as early as No. 5, and DraftExpress.com has him going seventh overall.
"I've heard the fourth pick to the 12th pick is wide open," Vonleh said. "[I think I'll be selected] anywhere in that range."
Declaring now could benefit Vonleh. Kansas freshman Andrew Wiggins's draft stock may have taken a hit after his poor performance on Sunday, and Duke freshman Jabari Parker may decide to stay another year at college.
In addition to Wiggins, who's projected to be the No. 1 pick, Kansas' Joel Embiid, Kentucky's Julius Randle, Australia's Dante Exum and Oklahoma State's Marcus Smart are expected to be the top picks of the draft -- assuming they choose to declare.
The NBA draft is on Thursday, June 26.
