Miami (47-21) looks to snap out of their slump before beginning a three-game road trip on Wednesday. The Heat have lost six of their last 10 games, including Saturday's 105-95 loss to New Orleans. With losses piling on and the playoffs around the corner, the team is understandably becoming frustrated.
"Our locker room is angry," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said, via ESPN. "We're not accustomed to this type of play, these type of standards, particularly on the defensive end, and if we want to change, we have to look inward."
Heat star LeBron James agreed with needing to look inward and not make excuses.
"We all need to get on the same page and figure it out," James said, according to the Sun Sentinel. "I don't know what we're going to do, but we have to figure this out. There's too many excuses. Everything is an excuse. Something goes wrong? An excuse. Lineup change? An excuse. Turn the ball over? An excuse.
"We need to own what we're doing right now, and what we're doing right now isn't good enough."
The most scathing criticism, though, came from forward Chris Bosh.
"We suck," Bosh said. "We need to turn it around. There's no passion. There's nothing. ... This is unacceptable. If we don't change this, we will be watching the championship from home."
Portland (45-25) can relate to Miami's recent struggles. After a hot start to the season, the Trail Blazers have also dropped six of their last 10 games, including a 124-94 blowout on Saturday against Charlotte.
"You don't want to just dismiss it as one of those games," Portland coach Terry Stotts said, via ESPN. "You want to learn from it. But losing by 30 points, we don't have the luxury not to play better."
