A toddler in Illinois was injured on Monday after touching razor blades that were glued onto a playground, the Chicago Tribune reported.
According to East Moline Police, the two-year-old boy was with his father when he was hurt at Millennium Park. He suffered a minor cut and was treated for it at home.
During their investigation, authorities found a dozen blades glued throughout the park but have not found them in any other nearby parks. East Moline Police Lt. Brian Foltz told local media that officers are unsure of how long the blades have been around.
"East Moline parks are safe, but it's just a bad situation, bad instance where somebody, or maybe a group of kids, I don't know who did this, but figured this would be a fun prank to do," Foltz told KETK-TV.
Parents told the news outlet they were surprised to find this type of incident occur.
"We just kind of think about them swinging on the swing set or, you know, climbing the monkey bars. You don't really think about razor blades," said parent Ty Langley.
Foltz added that police have discovered other types of vandalism pop up in East Moline and are asking residents to keep an eye out for any odd behavior.
There are currently no suspects in the case and an investigation is ongoing.
