Kentucky Sen. McConnell Mistakes Duke Basketball For Kentucky In TV Ad (VIDEO)

U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky mistakenly included a clip of the Duke men's basketball team instead of Kentucky's in a campaign TV advertisement, ABC News reported.

The video included a few seconds of Duke's 2010 championship celebration. You can watch the video below:

"The ad was intended to highlight Kentucky's basketball dominance and obviously the web ad vendor has become so accustomed to watching national championship celebrations in the bluegrass state that they made a mistake with one of the images," said McConnell spokesman Allison Moore, a Kentucky graduate. "Obviously we were horrified by the error and quickly changed it."

A spokeswoman for McConnell's likely Democratic challenger, Alison Lundergan Grimes, quickly responded that McConnell has "been in Washington so long that he doesn't know the difference between Duke and UK."

Grimes also uploaded a tweet criticizing McConnell's ad mistake.

"KY, as your next Senator, I promise to never glorify a Duke championship in a campaign ad like @Team_Mitch," Grimes tweeted.

However, Grimes already irritated some diehard fans when she chose Wichita State over Kentucky in her tournament bracket -- which UK ended up winning by two. She also chose Louisville, Kentucky's other major basketball program, to win over Florida.
