Taco Bell is clowning around claiming in a new advertisement that Ronald McDonald loves their breakfast.
The food chain launched an ad to promote its new breakfast menu, which features men with the name 'Ronald McDonald'. The advertisement is slated to air March 27. Yes, the name is similar to that of the clown mascot of McDonald's restaurant.
The advert begins with a narrator saying, "To show you just how much people are loving Taco Bell's all new breakfast, we asked some very special people." Then a few men introduce themselves as Ronald McDonald as they praise the Taco Bell breakfast.
After this, all the 25 Ronald McDonalds are seen seated together and saying, "My name is Ronald McDonald, and I love Taco Bell's new breakfast" in unison. Then the narrator ends the ad saying, "Breakfast anybody can love - even Ronald McDonald."
However, the ad has a disclaimer that states none of the Ronald McDonalds featured were affiliated to McDonald's. Rather they were individually selected as paid endorsers of Taco Bell breakfast.
Taco Bell, owned by Yum Brands Inc. of Louisville, Ky., is eyeing to increase sales by opening around 6,000 of its U.S. stores a few hours earlier at 7 a.m. It is competing with the current number one breakfast provider, McDonald's, which has nearly 31 percent of the market share, according to market researcher Technomic, reports Daily Mail. The company's 20 percent of the U.S. sales comes from their breakfast menu.
The entire Taco Bell breakfast menu will consist of 14 items costing anywhere between $1 and $2.49.
It will be interesting to see which Ronald McDonald survives the breakfast race.
