A North Carolina court unsealed NASCAR Chief Executive Brian France's divorce documents on Wednesday, revealing the details of his divorce and finances.
France and his ex-wife Megan France divorced in 2008 for the second time. The documents show the hefty sum Megan received from their split: $9 million in the settlement, $32,000 a month in alimony for 10 years and $10,000 a month in child support for their two children, according to the Associated Press.
The documents suggest Brian isn't likely to have a problem affording it. A 2005 financial statement indicated Brian had $564 million in total assets and was likely to inherit "substantial wealth from his parents" - possibly over $1 billion.
Brian and Megan's post-marriage squabbles also came into light.
"Brian becomes verbally abusive when I will not follow his dictates...I believe Brian is continuing to try to punish me for not being willing to change the terms we agreed to in the agreement because he is now unhappy with him," Megan said.
She added that if she doesn't agree with Brian, he "punishes" her by withholding money. One document claims Brian failed to pay $52,000 between August 2008 and February 2009; he also missed paying $3 million that she was due on January 1, 2009.
Brian, the grandson of NASCAR founder Bill France, SR., saw things differently. He complained in a court document that Megan spent a "staggering" amount of money over the years on her friends and family. He also said that Megan violated the terms of their confidentiality agreement by talking to friends about the settlement and making disparaging remarks about him.
Megan and Brian married once in 2001, and then divorced in 2004. They married again a year later, became parents to twins in 2006 and divorced in 2008.
