McDonald's is now offering a cup of free coffee to all customers who visit during breakfast hours from March 31 to April 13, the Associated Press reported on Friday.
The fast food giant is reportedly feeling pressure in one of its most profitable areas - the coveted morning menu.
The hamburger chain announced on Friday that certain locations in the United States will give away free cups of McCafe coffee for the first two weeks of April.
Breakfast is one of McDonalds' biggest components, comprising nearly 20 percent of its sales in America, the Associated Press reported.
The Illinois-based company is looking to bring in more customers for the free coffee giveaway, with additional hopes that regulars will pick up a few other items while they're grabbing their complimentary cup of Joe.
The promotion comes as Taco Bell debuts its advertising campaign for the new breakfast menu, AP reported. The ads feature citizens whose names happen to be Ronald McDonald.
Taco Bell's new menu additions, which include highly anticipated items like the Waffle Taco and the A.M. Crunchwrap, are rumored to become so popular, they might give McDonald's classic sandwiches a run for their money.
As customers increasingly grab to-go breakfast foods, fast food franchises are re-working their offered items, the Associated Press reported. The Mexican food chain isn't the only restaurant looking to boost breakfast sales - Starbucks Corp. recently revamped its lineup of baked goods and egg sandwiches.
McDonald's recently reported a 1.4 percent decline in February sales, citing bad weather and "challenging industry dynamics."
