Los Angeles (2-1) can keep their three-game series alive against San Diego with a win on Tuesday. The Dodgers lost the first game of the series on Sunday, 3-1. Zack Greinke gets the start Tuesday night, when he hopes to continue his success from last season (15-4, 2.63 ERA).

"Zack felt good about his last outing," Dodgers manager don Mattingly told MLB.com, via ESPN. "He's a perfectionist, and he's never quite happy. I look for him to pitch well (against San Diego)."

Greinke is 3-0 with a 1.74 ERA in five career starts against the Padres.

Set to duel Greinke is Padres pitcher Ian Kennedy, who finished the 2013 season with a 7-20 record and a 4.91 ERA. Kennedy, who was traded to San Diego on July 31, went 4-2 with a 4.24 ERA in the 10 games he started for the Padres.

Padres manager Bud Black, though, hopes the offseason with the team's pitching staff will improve Kennedy's numbers.

"Where he's at in his career, we're hoping that a good offseason working with (pitching coach) Darren (Balsley) last year, a couple of minor tweaks in the delivery will help him," Black said.

Padres slugger Chris Denorfia's two-run single in the eighth inning pushed San Diego ahead for their win on Sunday.
