Many movie and comic book sites are playing April Fool's Day pranks on their readers using the "Batman vs. Superman" (Man of Steel 2) production as easy bait to draw them in.
Rumor has it Ben Affleck's new batsuit will be revealed sometime in April, and fans have been eagerly waiting for the photos to pop up. Check out snippets of the "Man of Steel 2" gags at the expense of an unsuspecting fan below.
1. Unleash the Fanboy ran a story claiming Ben Affleck quit the "Man of Steel 2" production:
Remember that strange scheduling conflict we heard about earlier in the year? Ben Affleck was contracted to direct the pilot episode of the new Mafia themed tv show The Middle Man, which happened to be at the same time as the Batman vs Superman shoot. Well, we thought Warner Bros. fixed that whole problem, as they postponed the superhero team up flick to allow time for Affleck's dalliance with television. I guess we were all wrong, though, as Warner Bros. has cited that as the main reason for Affleck's departure. Ben Affleck released this statement on twitter.
2. NukeTheFridge.com toyed with Batman fans claiming they have the first leaked images of the "Man of Steel 2" batsuit, conveniently posting the a note claiming Warner Bros. made them take the photos down:
FINALLY we don't have to see Ben Affleck in The Batsuit through the eyes of his friends and family. That's right ladies and gentlemen images of Affleck as Batman are here. It looks like someone has accidentally posted them on tweeter. Who? We don't know because they where quickly removed but fear not we saved them and here they are.
3. Fansshare.com also wanted to get into the April Fool's Day fun with their Ben Affleck quits faux news article:
It now means that DC, Warner Bros and everyone else involved in the Batman vs. Superman movie are now going to have to find a quick replacement for the role of Batman. It is claimed that Ben Affleck has struggled with the physical training required for the role, so it is expected that somebody a little bit young and a bit more physically and mentally stronger will be cast.
"Batman vs. Superman" will be released to theaters on May 6, 2016.
