Scott Brown New Hampshire: Ex-Mass. Sen. Launches Bid For U.S. Senate In New State

Several reports are confirming that Scott Brown, former Massachusetts senator, is running for U.S. Senate in New Hampshire, Boston.com reported.

Local TV station WMUR was the first to report on Brown's run, though further details have not been issued about his campaign. A formal announcement is expected to come soon.

If Brown wins the Republican primary, he would likely face off with U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, a Democrat, in the general election.

In 2012, Brown lost his seat to U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat, after winning a special election in 2010 to replace the late U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy.

Following his loss, he moved to New Hampshire -- prompting theories about a possible run for office in the future.

On Tuesday, POLITICO reported Brown attended a Senate GOP lunch on Capitol Hill.

According to Republican senators, Brown spoke about "the mood in the country." Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) called him an "old friend" and "an appropriate candidate in a year in which Obamacare is likely to be the biggest issue in the fall election."

"No one's election victory was more a symbol of public objection to Obamacare like Scott Brown's special election in January of 2010," McConnell said.
