Drake rapped about his new crush Jennifer Lawrence and dissed Jay Z all in the same song. On Tuesday Apr. 1, the 27-year-old released his latest single, "Draft Day," on his blog, October's Very Own. In the song Drake mentions the "Hunger Games" actress, briefly addresses his "feud" with Jay and name drops upcoming rapper Chance the Rapper.
"On some Hunger Games s**t, I would die for my district/Jennifer Lawrence you could get it/I mean, for real girl, you know I had to do it for ya," Drake said on the song, which samples Lauryn Hill's hit "Doo Wop (That Thing."
Earlier in the year, Drake made headlines (and annoyed Jay Z) when he dissed the "Magna Carta" rapper in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine.
"It's like Hov, can't drop a bar these days without at least four art references. I would love to collect [art] at some point, but I think the whole rap/art thing is getting kind of corny," he said.
Last week, Beyoncé's hubby responded with a dis of his own when he rapped over Jay Electronica's "We Made It."
"Sorry Mrs. Drizzy for so much art talk/Silly me rapping about s**t that I really bought," Jay rhymed.
Drake, refusing to let Jay have the last word, responded on "Draft Day" saying, "I'm focused on makin' records and getting' bigger/Just hits, no misses, that's for the married folk."
At another point in the song he came at Jay again.
"I heard they talking crazy, I was out of town/You know they love to pop all that s**t when I'm not around/But when I'm here, psst, not a sound/That'll make me snap, jot it down, get in the booth and lay a body down," he said.
However, it seems like Drake isn't taking the alleged "beef" too seriously and later on said, "We all do it for the art so I can never hate though."
In "Draft Day," Drake also name drops Chance the rapper but some fans didn't think it was a dis.
