Cleveland took the Opening Day meeting between them, 2-0. Monday's win also demonstrated the use of the new instant replay system. Crew chief Mike Winters used the new system to review a collision at home plate, according to ESPN.

"Basically with the new rule I just wanted to confirm what I saw that the catcher did not block the plate unnecessarily," Winters told the Associated Press. "He was in fair territory, he gave the runner plenty of plate to go to. I just wanted to confirm."

It took Winters only 59 seconds to use the new replay system and confirm his call.

Corey Kluber, who finished last season with an 11-5 record and 3.85 ERA, takes the mound for Cleveland in his first start against Oakland since 2012. Kluber will start the first game, and Zach McAllister will start the second game, which begins at 9:00 p.m. ET.

"We need (Kluber and Zach McAllister)," Indians manager Terry Francona told the team website. "I think they're embracing the challenge and, now, they've just got to go do it."

Dueling Kluber will be A's pitcher Scott Kazmir, who's coming off a much-improved season in 2013. Kazmir played last season for Cleveland and went 10-9 in 29 starts and posted a 4.04 ERA while finishing with 162 strikeouts.

"(The Indians) know me. I know them," Kazmir told the team website. "It's more of a cat-and-mouse game now. They know my tendencies, and for the most part, I know their tendencies. It's going to be a game of adjustments, I think. It's going to be fun out there, for sure."
