AT&T has announced the launch of a new plan "Aio" that offers Unlimited 4G data usage, text and talk and is contract-free
Competition among U.S. carriers is tough and after T-Mobile launched their "un-carrier" plan, AT&T knew they had to step up their game to keep their customers from leaving them. Hence, the carrier announced its new unlimited plan named "Aio Wireless" for "customers interested in a first-class wireless experience at a value price, without an annual contract."
The new plan is already available in stores in Orlando, Tampa and Houston and AT&T plan to have them available throughout the US by next year. The plan is available at prices ranging from $35 to $70 per month for 4G service, depending on the market.
In Tampa, the website listed the plans as below:
- Aio Basic for $40 per month, which includes unlimited data (throttled after 250MB), talk, and text
- Aio Smart for $55 per month, which includes unlimited data (throttled after 2GB), talk, and text
- Aio Pro for $70 per month, which includes unlimited data (throttled after 7GB), talk, and text
"We talked with no-annual-contract customers and created our service around what they want," Jennifer Van Buskirk, president of Aio Wireless, said in a May 9 statement. "They want simple, easy plan choices with unlimited offers; first-class service at affordable prices; great devices; nationwide voice and data coverage; and no annual contracts. Today's wireless customers don't want to compromise."
