Has Bill Clinton Confirmed The Existence Of Aliens? Former President Believes Aliens Can Unite Everyone On Earth (WATCH)

Former President Bill Clinton said he "wouldn't be surprised" if Earth was eventually visited by aliens, UK MailOnline reported.

He just hopes it won't be on Independence Day, Clinton said in an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday.

"We know now we live in an ever-expanding universe," Clinton told Kimmel. "We know there are billions of stars and planets literally out there - and the universe is getting bigger."

He continued, "We know from our fancy telescopes that just in the last two years more than 20 planets have been identified outside our solar system that seem to be far enough away from their suns - and dense enough - that they might be able to support some form of life."

"So it makes it increasing less likely that we're alone."

A much debated topic has been the extent of extra-terrestrial information that is usually shared with presidents and leaders.

On being probed further by Kimmel on whether aliens actually exist, Clinton said, "I'm trying to tell you I don't know. But if we were visited someday, I wouldn't be surprised."

"I just hope that it's not like Independence Day, the movie - that it's, you know, a conflict."

However, he did reveal that research was done on Area 51 after he became president. The Nevada military facility has been a hot spot for UFO enthusiasts since years, UK MailOnline reported.

Clinton told Kimmel that he had instructed his aides to find out whether aliens were part of the hidden secrecy that surrounds Area 51, UK MailOnline reported.

Roswell papers, which detailed a reputed UFO sighting in 1947, were also ordered to be analyzed and reviewed.

Although he claimed to have no proof on the existence of aliens, Clinton said he wouldn't be shocked if aliens proved to have surprising benefits for the world.

"It may be the only way to unite this increasingly divided world of ours... think about all the differences among people of Earth would seem small if we feel threatened by a space invader," Clinton said.

"That's the whole theory of Independence Day. Everybody gets together and makes nice."
