Seattle police are on the hunt for a man dressed in drag who reportedly robbed a bank, then crashed his getaway car near Lake Washington on Thursday morning.
According to law enforcement officials who spoke with Seattle PI, the man is believed the be armed and at large.
The man walked into a bank close to McGilvra Boulevard and East Madison Street at around 9:15 in the morning wearing women's clothing, a wig and a full face of makeup. He then brandished his weapon and told a teller to give him money, Seattle PI reported.
After taking an unspecified amount of cash, the man then exited the bank, potentially rolling a suitcase along with him. According to the police report, the suspect hopped into a getaway car parked close to the scene of the robbery.
Witnesses called local law enforcement around 10 minutes later with news that a silver Hyundai sedan had slammed into the ground and flipped over near 39th Avenue East and East John Street.
Passerby said the driver fled the scene carrying what looked like a rolling suitcase.
At the site of the car crash, law enforcement officials discovered pieces of clothing that matched descriptions of the robber's outfit given by bank tellers.
Streets near 39th and John have been closed while Seattle police investigate the immediate area.
The suspect has been described as a white man, around 5-feet-7-inches tall and 170 pounds. He has a bandage on the bridge of his nose, is bespectacled, and wearing a tan jacket. Police said the man also has a lot of makeup on his face.
