Johnny Knoxville and Tony Shalhoub have officially joined the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle" reboot cast, Deadline reports.
Shalhoub will be taking on the voice of Splinter, the martial arts master who serves as a teacher for the Ninja Turtles. Knoxville will be talking on the role of Leonardo, previously voiced by actor Pete Ploszek.
"Insiders tell me they were always open to changing the voicing component of the Jonathan Liebesman-directed film that Paramount releases August 8, and those actors were only guaranteed to physically perform the roles in costume," Deadline reports. "But as it has proven with World War Z, G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Noah, Paramount also is a studio that isn't reticent to adding ingredients to the souffle after it has risen, and right up to the point where it's ready to be served."
The voice actor recast news comes on the heels of images surfacing showing the "TMNT" production is undergoing reshoots. Megan Fox and Will Arnett were caught on set, which came as a surprise since the production adamantly denied they were undergoing any reshoots, according to the Latino Review:
Paramount denied it, Michael Bay denied it, really only one outlet (Geeks of Doom) was suggesting it was happening. Like a lot of denials, we took it at face value considering it wasn't our story and it wasn't our source. That was yesterday.
This morning, the Instagram account of Alan Ritchson, who is playing Raphael in TMNT posted himself getting the ol' mo-cap suit back out and Just Jared has Megan Fox back on the Los Angeles set as April O'Neil.
"TMNT" is slated to hit theaters on Aug. 8. Check out the official synopsis and the movie trailer below:
"The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April O'Neil (Megan Fox) and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett) to save the city and unravel Shredder's diabolical plan."
