Authorities Investigating 'Hit List' Discovered At Indiana Elementary School

Authorities are investigating a "hit list" discovered at an elementary school in Indiana, CBS News reported.

Students at Wadsworth Elementary School are accused of making the list, though school officials have not released specific details on it.

In a letter sent home to parents of the students, Griffith Superintendent Peter Morikis said the list was found on March 28 and was immediately brought to Principal Michelle Lavin.

The school then brought in police and caseworkers from the Indiana Department of Child Services.

"The safety of our students is always the number one priority," he wrote.

Morikis also said the students accused of involvement have been removed from the school pending the outcome of the investigation. Additionally, all parents of students written on the list were notified separately.

However, federal law prohibits Morikis from disclosing any names or ages of the students primarily connected to the case.

"As the investigation continues, both the Griffith Police Department and the Griffith Public Schools have taken cooperative precautions to ensure the safety of our students," the letter said.

The elementary school has around 310 students in kindergarten through sixth grade, according to the school website.
