Washington ended New York's three-game winning streak on Friday with a 90-89 win. Winning every game is crucial at this point for the Knicks (33-44), who are one win behind Atlanta for the No. 8 playoff seed.
Wizards forward Trevor Ariza held Knicks star Carmelo Anthony to just 10 points while forcing him to commit nine turnovers in the home loss.
"I felt like I lost the ball," Anthony said after the loss, via ESPN. "It was a tough loss, man. I wish I could have did better and played better. For the most part I thought my teammates did what they had to do. J.R. (Smith) had a phenomenal game. I wish I could have rewarded that."
Anthony, who's dealing with a re-aggravated right shoulder injury, was adamant he would be ready for the contest against Miami.
"For sure, I'll be there Sunday," Anthony said. "... We've been up against the wall this whole time. ... We've got some pretty good wins on the road. We want to keep it up. We've got five games left to try to make this happen."
Miami, meanwhile, remains atop the Eastern Conference with a 52-23 record. They had their four-game winning streak ended, though, on Friday in a 122-121 loss against Minnesota.
"We just move on to the next one," Heat forward Chris Bosh said. "We've got a big game Sunday. It looks like this thing is going to go down to the wire so we might as well have fun with it."
