6-Year-Old Boy Dies In Alleged Drowning Case In Pennsylvania

The second boy whose mother allegedly tried to drown him and his younger brother in Pennsylvania died on Saturday, Reuters reported.

Daniel Schlemmer, 6, died four days after he and his 3-year-old brother, Luke, were found unconscious on their bathroom floor in their McCandless, Pennsylvania home.

Their mother, Laurel Michelle Schlemmer, 40, was charged with murder in the death of Luke -- who died on Tuesday -- and the attempted murder of Daniel, who was on life support until he died on Saturday.

On Tuesday, Schlemmer called 911 and said two of her sons may have drowned in the bathtub. However, she eventually told Allegheny authorities that "crazy voices" told her to drown them.

"Schlemmer said after the boys got into the tub she got into the tub 'fully clothed' and 'crazy voices' were telling her to push the boys into the water," a criminal complaint said. "Schlemmer explained that at one point she (was) sitting on top of the boys while they were under the water in the tub."

Schlemmer also has a 7-year-old son, who she put on the school bus before the tragic incident around 8:40 a.m. According to court documents, she told investigators she believed "she could be a better mother" to her oldest child "if the other two boys weren't around."

This is not the first time Schlemmer has allegedly put her children in harm's way. In an interview with the AP on Wednesday, North Park Church Pastor Dan Hendley said she backed her van into her sons at their grandparents house in a nearby town, where they were living at the time.

No charges were filed in the incident, Hendley said.

"There was no concern that there was anything but a terrible accident that occurred in that situation," Hendley said.
