NY Knicks Rumors: Phil Jackson Met With Lamar Odom, Reunion In Big Apple?

New York Knicks president Phil Jackson reportedly met with former Los Angeles Lakers forward Lamar Odom during Wednesday's game against Brooklyn. Jackson could be eying Odom for the veteran's familiarity with the triangle offense, Marc Berman of the New York Post reports.

Jackson appears to be entertaining the possbility of reuniting with some of his former players from his days as the Lakers' head coach. Jackson reportedly met with free agent Metta World Peace last week, and he met with Odom on Wednesday.

"For a second time, Phil Jackson met with a former Laker at halftime during a game as Knicks president," Berman wrote Saturday. "This time, it was a sit-down with Lamar Odom during Wednesday's Knicks-Nets game. ...

"Jackson has admitted to being on 'a talent hunt' and could look at former players familiar with the triangle offense."

Though Oklahoma City Thunder guard Derek Fisher denied having any discussions with Jackson, the former Laker has been linked as a possible front office candidate in New York next season.

Odom, who's currently a free agent, filled the headlines in the summer for alleged drug use, infidelity and a DUI charge. The Los Angeles Clippers were reportedly close to signing Odom in November, but a deal never came to fruition.

Odom, 34, won the 2011 Sixth Man of the Year award with the Lakers. He has career averages of 13.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.

He played two games for a team in Spain this year before injuring his back.
