New York (3-3) heads into their home opener after winning their three-game series against Toronto over the weekend. Sunday's 6-4 win against the Blue Jays saw outfielder Brett Gardner and second baseman Kelly Johnson earn two RBIs apiece.
Yankees pitcher Hiroki Kuroda (0-1, 3.00 ERA) is set to make his home debut on Monday. Kuroda only gave up two runs in his season debut against Houston, but a lack of run support gave him the loss in the Yankees' 3-1 defeat.
Baltimore (2-4) will send Ubaldo Jimenez to oppose Kuroda. While Jimenez (0-1, 6.00) is coming off Wednesday's 6-2 loss against Boston, Orioles manager Buck Showalter thinks his right-hander will feel less pressure playing at Yankee Stadium.
"It's going to be tough environment, Opening Day at Yankee Stadium," Showalter told the team website, via ESPN. "(Compared with) Opening Day at Camden Yards, which one do you think is tougher? I think our place. I think the expectation of pitching well at our place.
"I want him to feel like he's playing with house money. Nobody is expecting him (to win); they feel like that's going to be a real challenge. I think it's tougher for professional athletes when they are expected to do well."
Baltimore is coming off a 3-1 win on Sunday against Detroit, though the Orioles had already lost the series after dropping the first two games.
