U.S. Rep. Vance McAllister, a conservative Christian from Louisiana, was caught on camera kissing a woman who is not his wife, POLITICO reported.
A Louisiana newspaper, The Ouachita Citizen, released surveillance footage allegedly filmed inside of his Monroe office on Dec. 23.
In the video, McAllister, 40, is kissing Melissa Anne Hixon Peacock, 33, identified as a part-time aide in federal payroll records.
On Nov. 16, McAllister won in a special election to replace U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander. According to POLITICO, he was able to win the Republican district by touting his family values, including his 16-year marriage.
The congressman's office has not publicy addressed the video or returned calls or emails from POLITICO. According to his chief of staff Adam Terry, McAllister was supposed to respond to comments around noon.
Peacock was also contacted by the Citizen, but she did not respond to comment either.
The paper did not specify how they obtained the video.
Last fall, McAllister told the Citizen that he would not shy away from his faith and claimed it prepared him for public service.
"You don't achieve goals by compromising your integrity but by building relationships on respect," McAllister said. "We have to love our neighbor, which is the most bipartisan you can be."
