Hillary Clinton Is 'Thinking About' A 2016 Presidential Run

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced on Tuesday that is "thinking about" running for president in 2016, CNN reported.

Though it may not come as a surprise considering Clinton continues to lead in most polls as the Democratic nominee, she made the remarks at The Marketing Nation Summit in San Francisco following nearly a year of speculation.

"I am thinking about it," she said in response to a question about the next presidential election. "But I am going to continue to think about it for a while."

Clinton explained that she is still just pondering the idea because she is content with where her life is at right now.

"I am not going to make a decision for a while because, you know, I am actually enjoying my life," she said." I am actually having fun doing ordinary things like seeing my friends and going on long walks and playing with our dogs... At the end of the day, it is what really gives joy and meaning to your life."

The former lawmaker acknowledged she has "danced around" the question plenty of times before and even claimed she was "not thinking about" a possible 2016 run in January of this year.

However, at an event in Arizona last month, she mentioned she was "obviously thinking about all kinds of decisions."

Despite the fact that Clinton has yet to make a final decision, there are plenty of super PACs in Washington ready to fund a possible campaign. Correct the Record, American Bridge, and Ready for Hillary -- all of which have ex-Clinton advisers in high positions -- have expressed their preparation if she chooses to do so.

Clinton's speech was hosted by Marketo, a company that makes software for several types of marketing departments, and can cost participants up to $1,195 to attend.

Aside from her own future ambitions, Clinton expressed her concerns over the amount of time a candidate actually campaigns for when running for president.

"I wish that our country had the limited campaign period that other democracies have," she said, referring to nations that only allow campaigning to start a few months before an election. "It is not a marathon, it is a sprint."
