Stabbing Attack In Toronto Office Building Leaves Four Injured

A stabbing attack at a Toronto office building left four people injured on Wednesday, CNN reported.

One woman and one man were transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the Toronto Star. Two other men were also taken to the hospital but suffered from less serious injuries.

Authorities arrested a 48-year-old man and recovered his weapon. Toronto Police Constable David Hopkinson told the Star the suspect used either a knife or scissors.

The names of the suspect and victims have not been released.

"The weapon has been found and seized and the suspect's been placed under arrest," he said. "Can you imagine somebody walking into your business and stabbing ... people?"

The attack occurred around 9:30 a.m. on the fifth floor of the office complex in the Yonge Corporate Centre, which is owned by the Cadillac Fairview Corporation.

A motive in the attack is unknown and authorities are unsure of any relationship between the attacker and the victims.

In the United States, a stabbing attack at a high school in Pennsylvania left at least 20 people injured on Wednesday as well.

The frightening spree occurred at Franklin High School, located in Murrysville, at the start of the morning. Dan Stevens, a spokesman for Westmoreland County, said no deaths have been reported.

Four individuals suffered from serious injuries and had to be flown to hospitals for emergency treatment, Stevens told ABC News. Several others were stabbed in the extremities.

Additionally, other victims suffered cuts and scrapes from the attack and did not suffer stab wounds.

It is unknown if a majority of the victims are students or faculty members; two hospitals have listed their patients from the incident between the ages of 15 and 60.
