Looks like "Star Wars Episode 7" will be revisiting Tatooine after all.
The Hollywood Reporter's insider source claims the Lucasfilm production is headed to "Morocco-like environment" to recreate Luke and Anakin Skywalker's home planet. However, Disney and Lucasfilm have no confirmed the filming location.
THR is the second publication to report of Tatooine's big screen return. Badass Digest reported on April 1 their insider sources claim the "Star Wars Episode 7" production will begin on May 14 in Morocco for the first two weeks of filming.
"If I had to guess I would say this means a return to Tatooine, and that it's possible the production will be skipping over to Tunisia as well, where most of the Tatooine stuff was shot," Badass Digest reports.
Though Disney and Lucasfilm confirmed filming would begin in May, Disney Chairman Alan Horn revealed to Loyola Marymount School of Film and Television in Los Angeles production began in April. Horn also admitted the casting process is the most daunting task aspect of the production.
Horn couldn't divulge any information regarding the cast, but "Lost" actor Dominic Monaghan recently spoke to DweebCast about J.J. Abram's vision for his lead characters.
"[Abrams and I] talked about it a few times. Once I knew that he was doing 'Star Wars' I sent him a little congratulatory message and stuff," he told DweebCast. "We've talked a few times about it and he said 'We're putting together a cast of essentially unknowns. We want to follow the '77 'New Hope' cast'."
"Because obviously Harrison Ford wasn't well known at that point, Mark Hamill wasn't and Carrie Fisher wasn't either," he added. "What he said was, 'We don't want to fall into that mistake of people going 'Oh it's that guy from that thing!' and then you're completely out of the 'Star Wars' universe.' "
"Star Wars Episode 7" will hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
