Desperate investigators searching for a missing California woman last seen hiking Mount Tamalpais may have found clues in her social media trail.
Police received a tip on Sunday that 33-year-old Magdalena Glinkowski made changes to her LinkedIn account since she was last seen on March 30, according to a report by the San Mateo County Times.
According to Marin County sheriff's Lt. Doug Pittman, it appeared the Menlo Park software developer recently updated her professional social networking profile. Officials spoke to LinkedIn authorities to confirm, the Marin Independent Journal reported.
"As we speak, we are in communication with LinkedIn, who has been very cooperative, to confirm she has made a change to her profile," Pittman stated. "We're aware that a lot of people track their activity on various social websites, and we're trying to determine if her recent activity could be a clue in the case."
Over 100 searchers have combed through Mount Tamalpais since Glinkowski went missing last Friday. Ground and air efforts have been launched, while eight search dogs and teams from the Bay Area Mountain Rescue Team, Contra Costa and Alameda Sheriff's offices have also started searching the area.
Park rangers first took note of the missing woman when they discovered an abandoned car left in a parking lot called "Bootjack" close to the Pantoll Campsite on Mount Tamalpais, Pittman told the Independent.
Authorities found out the vehicle was rented in her name.
"We are going on the assumption that she might have gotten lost or hurt," Pittman said last weekend. "There has been a lot of rain, and trails can become slippery."
Glinkowski was last seen on video footage from March 30, when she was recorded walking through the parking lot where officials later found her vehicle.
She wore a bright pink pullover top, black-and-white sneakers and light blue shorts in the video. Authorities have described her as white, about 5'7", and 120 pounds.
Anyone with information on this missing woman should contact the Marin County Sheriff's Investigation Unit at (415) 473-7250.
