Rapper Big Sean has been the one to reportedly call off his engagement with actress Naya Rivera on Wednesday, according to E! News.
A spokeswoman for the rapper announced Wednesday that he has canceled plans to marry the "Glee" star, E! News reported. Publicist Tracy Nguyen said Sean hopes the two can continue to work through their issues privately.
Twenty-seven-year-old Rivera and 26-year-old Sean, whose real name is Sean Anderson, announced their engagement this past October, according to E! News.
The couple, who met on Twitter, did not tweet about the breakup Wednesday, E! News reported.
Rivera was seen last night at the Marie Claire Fresh Faces event in Los Angeles without the massive diamond ring that her now ex-fiancé gave her, according to E! News. Big Sean was attending a Dodgers game across town while Rivera was at the event.
Rivera is best known as Santana on "Glee," and Sean released "Hall of Fame," his second album, last summer, E! News reported.
"After careful thought and much consideration, Sean has made the difficult decision to call the wedding off," a rep for Big Sean said in a statement obtained by E! News. "The recent rumors and accusations reported by so-called or fake sources are simply untrue."
"Sean wishes Naya nothing but the best and it is still his hope that they can continue to work through their issues privately. We will not be commenting again on this matter," the statement read.
The "recent rumors and accusations" Big Sean's rep referred to in the breakup statement apparently include a recent report claiming that the rapper had cheated on the Glee star, according to E! News.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan for Latinas for its Spring 2014 issue, Rivera said that she believed Sean was going to be "an amazing husband," and someday, "a great father," E! News reported.
"He's so kind to people, but he also wears the pants in our relationship, which I love," Rivera said, according to E! News. "We Latinas are very independent and strong, so it's even sweeter that I've found somebody who can let me out of that role for a minute."
