Amanda Bynes' mother maintained on Thursday that her daughter wasn't mentally ill, but did exhibit erratic behavior as a result of her marijuana use.
"Amanda has no mental illness whatsoever," Lynn Bynes told E! News. "She has never been diagnosed as schizophrenic or bipolar."
Lynn's statements came just one day after Amanda's lawyer spoke out about the recovering actress' current status, in hopes of dashing a slew of rumors concerning her mental health.
The Easy A actress' mother said Amanda's 2012 DUI and May 2013 arrest, along with curious social media activity and aimless walks around New York City, all stemmed from drug use.
"[Amanda] is very sorry for all the hurtful tweets, statements and actions that occurred while she was under the influence of marijuana," Lynn Bynes continued.
According to a report by E! News, the 28-year-old comedienne requested that lawyer Tamar Arminak clear up some long-standing pieces of gossip that have plagued Amanda since she was arrested last year for throwing a bong out the window of her Manhattan apartment.
"There has been much speculation about Amanda's medical condition," Arminak told People Magazine. "She has remained silent because she believed it was best to keep her mental health diagnosis private. However, she asked me to dispel certain rumors. For the record, Amanda does not have schizophrenia nor has she ever been diagnosed with it."
Arminak confirmed that Amanda, who was forcibly hospitalized two months after being arrested, is not on any kind of drug treatment.
"Amanda is currently on zero medication," the attorney told People. "She's devoted to living her life as healthy as possible. She's never had a history of abusing alcohol or hard drugs, and she's proud to say she's been marijuana-free for the past nine months."
Amanda is currently studying at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Orange County, Calif., E! reported.
Amanda and her mother and father, Rick Bynes, recently vacationed together at a resort in Los Cabos, Mexico.
