‘X-Men: Days of Future Past': Producers Wants Solo Movies for Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique, Deadpool and Gambit

Producers from "X-Men: Days of Future Past" told Entertainment Weekly that they would like to do solo films for Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Deadpool and Gambit. Producers told the magazine that solo projects for all three characters is currently on the table.

"There was a regime [at the studio] that didn't see the worth in [spin-offs], and the current people who run Fox understand, embrace it, and we're going to do right by it," Laren Shuler Donner, who's produced all the "X-Men" films said. "I'd like to do Gambit. I'd like to do Deadpool. We'll see. There's a lot of really great characters."

Donner also said that she would be interested in doing a movie for Lawrence's Mystique, who will have a pivot part in "Days of Future Past." Writer Simon Kinberg shared Donner's interest and said that he loves "what Jen Lawrence has done with [Mystique]."

"I feel like because she is in such a crowded ensemble, there's so much more opportunity if you were to follow her solo," he added.

According to Entertainment Weekly, a recent EW.com poll revealed that most "X-Men" fans were more interested in seeing Deadpool and Gambit in their own solo movies than watching one about Mystique.

Recently, the first 10 minutes of the flick was previewed at Cinemacon in Las Vegas and teased a few major characters being killed off. According to ComicBookMovie.com, the opening scene featured a bunch of mutants including Sentinels, Kitty Pryde, Bishop and Iceman.

"Bishop lays down and Kitty starts messaging his temples, and it becomes clear that she's sending his consciousness back in time," ComicBookMovie.com writes. "The others are buying them minutes... with their lives. A Sentinel snaps Sunspot's neck. Iceman has his head popped off and is crushed underfoot. Blink gets skewered. Warpath gets blasted to smithereens. But it was worth it! As the Sentinel breaks into the closet, blasting fire, Kitty looks up and says, 'Too late, asshole!' and everything disappears. The past has been changed."

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" will hit theaters May 23, followed by "X-Men: Apocalypse" on May 27, 2016 and a new "Wolverine" movie scheduled to be released Mar. 13, 2017. There have also been rumors that an X-Force movie is in the works.
