Amazon Cloud Drive Service Comes To iOS Devices

Amazon has launched the Cloud Drive Photo app for Apple users with access to online storage facility from their iOS devices.

After the launch of Cloud Drive Photo app for Android users last November, Amazon has decided to bring the Cloud service to all iOS users. Similar to the Android version of the app, Cloud Drive service provides online storage space for Apple owners. It offers automatic upload of pictures taken on the iOS device and users can simultaneously access the stored photos from the Amazon Cloud account.

The process of uploading all the photos taken from an iOS device can be done automatically in the backend or users can choose to manually backup each album. Once photos are uploaded on the Cloud drive, users can browse photos from a computer, Android Phones, Kindle Fire, Macs and the iPhone of course. In addition, Amazon Cloud allows users to view photo albums from iPod Touch and any iOS device with version 6.0 or later. It is also compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad and is optimized for on iPhone 5.

Amazon Cloud Drive app also allows users to share photos on Facebook, Twitter and through e-mail.

"Photos are central to the daily lives of our customers," said Director of Cloud Drive Russell Dicker, according to a report in Digital Trends. "The Cloud Drive Photos app, now available for iPhone and iPod touch, lets customers use Amazon Cloud Drive Photos regardless of which platform they choose. They'll also rest easy knowing that their entire photo collection is protected with automatic back-up to the cloud."

Cloud Drive offers storage capacity of 5GB free of charge and if users intend to increase the online storage to 20GB they will be charged $10 per year. The storage can be further increased by choosing different packages offered by Amazon ranging from 50GB for $25 and 100GB for $50 to $500 per year for 1000GB (1TB).

Amazon Cloud Drive Photo app for iOS platform is no different from the Android version of the app, or Android's DropBox and Apple's Photo Stream, it is just an attempt from Amazon to complete its Cloud system on all platforms.

Users can download the Amazon Cloud Drive Photo app from Apple App Store.
