Miami Heat center Greg Oden is reportedly finished for the season. In addition to Oden dealing with a back injury, ESPN's Brian Windhorst says Indiana Pacers center Roy Hibbert "broke" him.
Oden hasn't played since March 26 against Indiana, and he reportedly may be done for the season.
"I don't think Greg Oden is going to play the rest of the season to be honest," Windhorst said, via IndyStar.com. "I think Roy Hibbert Broke him."
Oden logged only six minutes, two points and one rebound in Miami's 84-83 loss to Indiana. In Oden's brief time on the floor, Hibbert easily exploited the matchup
Oden's history of knee injuries has kept him sidelined for the majority of his career, but IndyStar.com reports the 7-footer is now dealing with a back issue that has kept him off the court since March 26.
He's missed eight straight games as of Wednesday.
After not having played since December 2009, Oden returned in January and played in 22 games, six of which he started. He's averaged 3.0 points and 2.2 rebounds in nine minutes per game.
Miami hasn't officially ruled out Oden. On Monday, heat coach Erik Spoelstra said Oden's back spasms are improving.
"Greg is also making progress," Spoelstra said on Sunday, via the Miami Herald. "This is the best he has felt."
Losing Oden for the season would force Miami to rely on just Udonis Haslem and Chris Andersen, who's already missed nine games this season.
Miami (53-25) plays Indiana again on Friday.
