Frank Lampard became Chelsea's all-time top scorer after two second-half goals to lead the Blues to a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa.
Lampard came into Saturday's match trailing Bobby Tambling's club record of 202 goals by one. With the Blues down one to Villa, Lampard stepped up and scored twice in the second half. He tied Tambling's record with his first goal in the 61st minute and broke the record with his second goal in the 88th minute.
His 203 goals make him Chelsea's all-time top scorer.
Tambling played for Chelsea from 1958-1970 and held the club's record of most goals for over 40 years, according to the Associated Press. Lampard, 34, has played for Chelsea since 2001 and has the opportunity to further add to his lead in upcoming seasons.
Chelsea's win against Villa pushes them closer to securing a top-four spot in next season's Champions League. Chelsea (21-7-9) is third with 72 points. With one game left, the club is five points ahead of Arsenal and six in front of Tottenham.
The club's victory on Saturday wasn't all celebrations. Chelsea lost both John Terry and Eden Hazard to injury. Terry suffered a leg injury and left on a stretcher, and Hazard pulled a hamstring. Both players are likely to miss Wednesday's Europa League final against Benfica.
