Mike Tyson to Become A Cartoon Character on Adult Swim

Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson will become a cartoon character, according to Reuters.

Tyson will star as a detective with a pigeon as a sidekick, in a television cartoon on the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim channel. Tyson, 46, will provide the voice to the character on the "Mike Tyson Mysteries" crime-solving series. He will also share the screen with a magical tattoo, Reuters says.

Plot lines for the show include werewolves and chess matches, Reuters reported .Tyson, who owns racing pigeons in real life, recently toured, presenting his life on stage in "Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth."

Tyson's acting stardom came in 2009 with his cameo appearance in "The Hangover." The former champion left boxing in 2006. In 2011 he filmed a documentary on his racing pigeons. Tyson also was featured in the Animal Planet reality series, "Taking on Tyson."

Tyson holds the record as the youngest boxer to win the WBC, WBA and IBF heavyweight titles at 20 years old. Tyson, who has been legally married five times and has eight children, was married to actress Robin Givens in the '80s. The relationship received negative attention due to Tyson's alleged spousal abuse. In 1992 his reputation was further tarnished when he faced a rape conviction.

Adult Swim achieved its highest ratings for adults and males ages 18-24, 18-34 and 18-49 demographic last year, according to wired.com. for It has been the No. 1 basic cable channel for young adults for the last eight years. The channel is best known for its shows "Robot Chicken," "The Boondocks," "Children's Hospital" and "The Venture Bros."

In addition to their regular programming and the new Tyson show, Adult Swim will add a fake Canadian version of "Entertainment Tonight" called "Hot Package," and "Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell," wired.com says.
