Boston Red Sox Manager John Farrell Ejected, Rips Replay System After Loss To Yankees (VIDEO)

Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell ripped the league's replay system after being ejected from Sunday's game against the New York Yankees. Farrell's ejection came when he disputed the umpires' decision to reverse a call after reviewing it on replay.

The umpires reversed a call in the fourth inning, which gave the Yankees a run. The play happened in the bottom of the fourth when Yankees slugger Francisco Cervelli hit a groundball to third. Boston went for the inning-ending double play, and Cervelli was initially ruled out at first.

The ruling prompted Yankees manager Joe Girardi to challenge the play, and after review, the umpires overturned the out at first and awarded the Yankees the run catcher Brian McCann would have scored.

Farrell went on the field and disputed the reversed call with first base umpire Bob Davidson and crew chief Brian O'Nora, according to ESPN. Moments into the heated discussion, Davidson ejected Farrell from the game.

Afterwards, Farrell spoke candidly about not having "any faith in the system."

"We felt it was clear that the replay was inconclusive," Farrell said, via ESPN, "and the frustrating part is that when this was rolled out and explained to us, particularly on the throw received by the first baseman, we were instructed when the ball enters the glove -- and not that is has to hit the back of the glove -- is where the out is deemed complete.

"At the same time, any angle that we looked at, we couldn't tell whether [Cervelli's] foot was on the bag behind Mike Napoli's leg, so where this became conclusive is a hard pill to swallow. And on the heels of yesterday, it's hard to have any faith in the system, to be honest with you."

Farrell challenged a safe-call on Saturday, which the umpires upheld after replay review. The MLB office admitted later that night the call should have been reversed.
