‘Game of Thrones’ Season 4 Purple Wedding Killer Theories: [SPOILER] Murdered King Joffrey!?

Fans of HBO's "Game of Thrones" are still shocked (and probably excited) over King Joffrey Baratheon's death. On the Apr. 13 episode, titled "The Lion and The Rose," fans watched as the young, evil King was poisoned at his own wedding feast.

Even though most viewers are celebrating the death, one very important question remains: who killed Joffrey? There are reports that the killer has already been revealed in the books but the death scene in the books differ than the one that played out on TV.

Also the HBO show has not caught up to George R.R. Martin's novels and there is always the possibility that the creators of the show could switch things up. Anyway, if you haven't read the books and want to know "whodunit" you might be able to figure it by paying close attention to the episode.

There are several people who could be responsible for the death. There's Tyrion Lannister (played by Peter Dinklage) who's already been blamed for the death since he was the one who handed his nephew the wine cup. However, his character never seemed like a murderer. (Joffrey did humiliate him though at the feast).

Other theories have included Lord Varys, Sansa Stark and even King Joffrey's new wife, Mageary Tyrell. But according to an eagle-eyed viewer, none of those characters are the actual killer. To prove this, the fan created a Reddit thread that breaks down the scene to show who the murderer is and how the poisoning played out.

Just a fair warning: The rest of this article contains HUGE spoilers, so please stop reading now if you want to wait to find out who killed King Joffrey.

If you're still with us, all the clues needed to figure out who the killer is can be found in the actual episode.

Last chance to stop reading, spoilers ahead!

According to the Reddit post, the person who killed Joffrey is Olenna Tyrell, the Queen of Thrones (and the grandmother to Joffrey's new wife). The Reddit breakdown is really, really interesting and shows Olenna swiping a jewel from Sansa's new necklace (the one Ser Dontos the fool gave her) and discreetly placing it inside Joffrey's cup when he cuts the bird cake.

Now that we know who did it, the next question is why? What would Olenna gain from murdering her granddaughter's husband? And did she do it by herself or was someone else helping her?
