North Korean Embassy Officials Upset Over London Salon Poster Making Fun of Kim Jong-un’s Hairstyle

Making fun of Kim Jong-un's military style haircut will cost you an unwanted visit by North Korean embassy officials.

That's exactly what happened to a barber in London, who put up an advertisement mocking the supreme leader's hairstyle.

A poster advert at M&M Hair Academy, South Ealing, featured a photo of a smiling Kim sporting a parted hairdo with "Bad hair day? 15 percent off all gent cuts through the month of April. Tuesday - Thursday" printed in white bold letters.

The ad attracted the wrath of two North Korean embassy officials, who visited the store and demanded Mo Nabbach, the shop manager, take down the poster as they found it "disrespectful" to their leader. They even took photos of the shop window and made notes.

"We put up a poster offering a discount on men's haircuts. Then North Korean officials came in and asked for it to be taken down. My father told them: 'This is England and not North Korea' and he told them to get their lawyers," Nabbach's son Karim said, reports The Telegraph.

Nabbach complied with the officials' demand and took the poster down. But, the customers at the hair salon urged him to put it back stating that Britain was a democratic country. Nabbach obliged.

"The two men were wearing suits and they were very serious. My father said it was very threatening," Nabbach said, reports the London Evening Standard. He also said that he later informed the local police about the incident. However, police looked into the matter and found no criminal activity in it. That means they will not take any action against anyone involved in the matter.

"We haven't had any trouble since then, if anything the poster has become a tourist attraction. It was just something that had been in the news, and the North Korean officials didn't even have the haircut. We always put up little offers in the window, it's harmless. We were just making light of a bad situation in North Korea," Karim told the Belfast Telegraph.

Recently, reports claimed that North Korean students were asked to sport hairstyles similar to that of Kim. However, there was no confirmation on those claims.
