BioWare made an appearance at PAX East this year and fans were hopeful the game developers would dish a little sneak peak for what's to come in "Mass Effect 4."
According to Canoe.Ca, Bioware representatives Cathleen Rootsaert and Joel MacMillan answered fan questions during their Pax East panel. One fan asked about the game's user choice abilities and if the same-sex relationships options will stay in the series.
"We can't divulge that. But, I'll just say that inclusivity is part of the BioWare mandate. So, we do our best," Rootsaert told the crowd.
Another audience member asked if "Mass Effect 4" would be available for the PS4 and Xbox One. MacMillan teased the title could be coming to next-gen consoles.
"It's kind of tricky to officially comment on that, but I mean, gen4looks pretty awesome and Mass Effect's an awesome-looking game," MacMillan said during the PAX East panel.
BioWare has remained quiet about the upcoming title. However, Community Manager Chris Priestly wrote in BioWare's official forums back in February "Mass Effect 4" will not be a direct continuation of the original trilogy, Eurogamer reports.
"To call the next game Mass Effect 4 or ME4 is doing it a disservice and seems to cause a lot of confusion here," Priestly wrote on BioWare's forums. "We have already said that the Commander Shepard trilogy is over and that the next game will not feature him/her. That is the only detail you have on the game. I see people saying 'well, they'll have to pick a canon ending'. No, because the game does not have to come after."
"...If you had three games centred around a group of key soldiers in the US army during World War I and then decided to make a game about another group of people during the Second World War, the games could have many points in common and feel true to one another," he added later on in his post.
