A crash between a taxi and tractor-trailer on Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge in Boston left at least one person dead on Monday morning, Boston.com reported.
One person in the taxi cab was confirmed dead by the Massachusetts State Police.
"The person was declared deceased on scene, and we're investigating," Trooper Todd Nolan told Boston.com.
The name of the victim has not been released and the cause of the crash is unknown.
Boston Firefighters extricated the body from the wreck, which occurred at 5:38 a.m. According to Boston.com, firefighters were on the bridge until 7 a.m. putting out flames resulting from the crash.
By 8 a.m., the southbound lanes were reopened though the northbound lanes remain closed and under investigation by State Police and Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley's office. The state fire marshal's office is also assisting.
Fire officials said the tractor-trailer was carrying produce.
