Jodi Arias Claims She Contracted Hepatitis C in Jail, Lawyer Says Report Is Fake

Convicted murderer Jodi Arias' lawyer has denied a report claiming that Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is not providing her defendant with appropriate medical care as she suffers from hepatitis c in an Arizona jail, UK MailOnline reported.

Attorney Jennifer Willmott said the lawsuit filed under Arias' name in the U.S. District Court in Arizona is "completely false" and he does not know who filed it, NBC reported.

TMZ reported on Saturday that the disease, which was allegedly contracted by Arias in jail, was disclosed by Arias in an April 4 request for a restraining order against Arpaio. Nancy Grace, Headline News personality, has also been named as a defendant in the request, with Arias accusing them of defaming her character.

"Arias was also pricked with an infected T.B. shot, which caused Arias to get Hep-C, and now she is not receiving treatment," the request, first reported by TMZ, states.

After a silicon breast implant began leaking in her left breast, medical treatment was refused to Arias, a February 14 document stated.

Due to the lack of care she was denied, this led to the growth of fungal on her breast and a rash, according to UK MailOnline.

In the filing, Arias claims that Arpaio invaded her privacy while she used the toilet by installing video cameras in her cell. He also refuses to provide her with meals, showers or recreation when she denies his "forced" demands of saying the Pledge of Allegiance every morning.

"The beef with Grace stems from Arias' claim that CNN and Headline News, which is owned by CNN, have reported that Arias is having sex with Christopher Alexander, the cousin of Travis Alexander, whom Arias killed in June 2008," UK MailOnline reported.

UK MailOnline added, "The court documents say that Arias and Alexander, who was just released from prison in Pennsylvania, were pen pals, though they did exchange letters of a sexual nature that Arias claims were intercepted by Arpaio and given to Grace. One of those letters said that Arias and Alexander planned to wed."

After ending her phase with a hung jury in May 2013, Arias is awaiting a retrial in the sentencing phase of her trial in a Maricopa County jail. She faces life in prison or the death penalty.
