A former reserve police officer in Michigan was charged with felony perjury in the case of a missing girl.
According to UPI, Raymond McCann, 46, was arrested on Saturday for lying to authorities in 2012 regarding the disappearance of 11-year-old Jodi Parrack.
Bryan Fuller, a detective with the Michigan State Police, mentioned McCann has been a person of interest since November 8, 2007 when he said the girl's body may be in a Constantine, Michigan cemetery, where it was eventually discovered.
"He was in an interview chair at 2:14 a.m. on Nov. 9 and I assure you that was not a routine, fact-finding interview," Fuller told MLive.com on Monday.
When McCann made the suggestion, he was a reserve police officer in Constantine.
According to an affidavit filed last week, authorities said Parrack was found with marks on her wrists -- suggesting she was handcuffed. Investigators also said McCann lied to officials about having only one pair of handcuffs, which he gave to authorities during the investigation.
Parrack went missing on November 8, 2007. According to UPI, her mother went to McCann's home to ask if anyone in the family had seen her since her since had a crush on one of McCann's sons.
Last week, St. Joseph County Prosecutor John McDonough said McCann made "false statements about his actions prior to and during the search for Jodi Parrack's body as well as his actions following the discovery of Jodi Parrack's body as well as statements about his potential involvement in her death."
Bail for McCann was set at $220,000 and a hearing is scheduled for May 1.
