'Tiger Wood's Unlikely Pair': Ex-Wife Initiated Close Friendship With Wood's Girlfriend On Children's Behalf, Take Vacations Together

Tiger Wood's girlfriend, Lindsey Vonn, has reportedly become very close friends with his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, US Weekly reported.

After Woods divorced Nordegren after 6 years of marriage, he began dating the 29-year-old alpine skier in March 2013. Before the relationship ended between the married couple, their marriage became highly-publicized after the golfer admitted he had been unfaithful.

An insider claimed that Nordegren, 34, knew the Olympic gold medalist would be around her children a lot. The unlikely friendship was initiated with Vonn on her children's behalf.

According to US Weekly, the Swedish model and her pro golfer ex-husband, 38, have two kids together, daughter Sam, 6, and son Charlie, 5.

"After meeting her, she found she actually liked her," the source said of Nordegren, who finalized her divorce from Woods in 2010, after it was famously revealed that he had cheated on her with over a dozen women.

"You'd think it would be weird, but Elin loves Lindsey and they talk all the time," the source tells Us. "Elin likes that Lindsey is a strong woman."

While Woods stays back with the kids, the fellow blonds make occasional plans to grab drinks together, a source said. The whole group even went for a holiday and celebrated their vacation together recently.

"Lindsey is really good for Tiger. She's strong, opinionated, and keeps him in line," the source said. "Elin found that they are very similar and have a lot in common. They laugh and talk like they have been girlfriends forever."

Months after Vonn and Woods were first linked, they made their relationship public, US Weekly reported.

"We're athletes, so I guess we have something in common there. We met at his charity event in Vegas, Tiger Jam, and, yeah, we were friends for a long time," she told David Letterman in November of how their relationship evolved. "I don't know...we just kind of relate really well to one another."

A rep for Vonn had no comment, US Weekly reported.
