Eric Williams Homeless: Former NBA Player, Star of ‘Basketball Wives’ Broke; Owes $24K in Child Support?

Eric Williams, a former NBA player and former star of "Basketball Wives," is reportedly broke and homeless. According to TMZ, Williams made the claims in a letter to a Colorado court explaining why he couldn't make his child support payments or attend a child support hearing earlier in the month.

Williams, who played in the NBA for 12 seasons, said he spent the money he made as a professional athlete. Reportedly in the letter to the court, Williams said that one of the reasons he couldn't attend the hearing was because "a court-ordered citation for me to appear was not delivered to my home address as I have no home."

The former athlete also said he couldn't afford the plane ticket and did not have money for a lawyer. The 41-year-old stated in the letter that he is currently a volunteer at a non-profit organization and said he's in the process of putting his life back together.

Williams was married to "Basketball Wives" star Jen Williams and appeared on the VH1 reality show a few years ago. He and Jen went through a very bitter divorce on the show. The basketball player often trash talked his wife and in one episode he threw a drink in her face.

While the two were still married, Williams fathered a child with Tavia Serena Cannon, TMZ reports. The boy was born in October 2011. Cannon has reportedly been trying to get the athlete to pay child support since 2012.

At the time, Cannon told the court that her job as a babysitter was only paying her $300 a week and she wanted Williams to pay child support and to help with the boy's medical expenses. The athlete currently owes a reported $24,000 in child support.

According to TMZ, Jen had no idea he had secretly fathered a baby. The gossip site recently caught up with "Basketball Wives" costar Tami Roman who said she could relate to Williams financial troubles and homelessness "because I have been there" but felt the athlete was dealing with a little bit of karma.

"But clearly God doesn't like ugly," Roman added. "Meanwhile, my girl Jen is being a beauty enjoying her new life and loving her new life."
