Quarterback Stabbing Arrest: Michael J. Creed Taken Into Custody For Alleged Assault on Delaware's Trevor Sasek

The Newark Police Department has taken a suspect into custody for allegedly stabbing University of Delaware quarterback Trevor Sasek, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The Fightin Blue Hens quarterback was stabbed several times in the chest and abdomen during the altercation. He is stable condition after undergoing surgery.

25-year old Michael J. Creed, Newark, is facing charges of first-degree assault, and possession of a deadly weapon while committing a felony.

"For privacy reasons, we're not confirming the identity of the victim," said University of Delaware spokeswoman Andrea Boyle Monday afternoon. "University officials have been in touch with the injured student and his family, and we wish him a speedy recovery."

The stabbing happened at around 1:20 a.m. Sunday in a parking lot near the Main Street Galleria.

According to a press release sent out Sunday morning the "responding officers learned that an argument between the victim and a suspect in the parking lot led to a fight. The victim, a 22-year-old UD student, was taken to Christiana Hospital by private vehicle."

Sasek attended Spring-Ford High School in Royersford, Pennsylvania. He graduated from the school in 2009 after starting at quarterback for three years. He was also a punter.

"We don't know anything more than what has already been reported," Mickey McDaniel, athletic director for the high school, said Monday. "All we know is that something occurred, and that's it." Sasek also pitched for the school, helping them to advance to a state final.

He has played in 13 games for Delaware in his three seasons as a quarterback. He earned the starting spot in 2011 but suffered a knee injury the same year.
