A drunken passenger created ruckus aboard Virgin Australia flight triggering hijack alert after attempting to get into cockpit, Friday. Officials at the Virgin Australia flight en route to Bali, Indonesia from Brisbane clarified that no hijacking attempt was done and just a flight emergency was made after Matt Christopher Lockley, a 28-year-old passenger, tried to force him in the cockpit. The plane landed safely at Indonesia's Denpasar airport in at 15:16 local time with all 137 passengers and 7crew members, a statement issued by the Virgin Australia read. According Heru Sudjatmiko, a Virgin Australia official in Bali, it was just a miscommunication and the pilot had sent a distress call. "What happened was there was a drunk person... too much alcohol consumption caused him to act aggressively," he said adding that Christopher failed in breaking into the cockpit. Rather Indonesian authorities took Lockley, an Australian, into the custody. Police chief Suhardi Alius said Lockleywas arrested and is under interrogation. "The police are having difficulty digging up information on what he intended to do because he is still in an unstable condition," a police official at Bali airport said, reports Reuters. Passenger Chris Corless was at Denpasar's airport when the incident happened."My wife and I were waiting for our flight and just noticed planes weren't departing," Corless said, according to The Sydney Morning Herald. "Then the Virgin flight landed and was escorted immediately to the tarmac opposite the terminal. Security surrounded the plane and then there was some movement then security left and the plane taxied to a normal gate. All said and done in 30 minutes. Sounds like it wasn't serious, security didn't take long to clear the situation." The airport was shut down for a while but the operations resumed after the Virgin flight was taken off the airport grounds.
