A California teenager suspected in the beating of an 84-year-old woman was arrested on Thursday, according to The Associated Press.
Raymond Miranda, 14, was taken into custody from a hotel in Temecula. Authorities were able to locate him after issuing a wanted poster, unusual for someone so young but necessary "due to the serious nature of the case."
A second suspect, an unidentified 15-year-old boy, was also arrested in connection to the attack on April 17, when the incident occurred.
The attack happened around 3 a.m. at Camelot Independent Senior Living Community in Hemet during an apparent robbery, investigators said. The boys allegedly beat her and poured bleach on her body before fleeing, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Police Lt. Dean Evans told the AP the arrest warrant includes attempted murder, burglary, and torture.
"This is a very egregious attack. This lady was severely beaten," Evans told KTLA-TV. "Both of these kids are just a menace."
The woman, whose name has not been released, remains in critical condition at a hospital.
"I don't think they had any respect for their elders, that's for sure," Camelot resident Johnny Miles told NBC Los Angeles.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Hemet Police Det. Doug Klinzing at (951) 634-1221 or (951) 765-2400. Anonymous tips can also be made at the numbers, police told the Times.
