Verizon Galaxy S5 owners will receive a new smartphone when the company ships out replacements for mobile devices that previously sent error messages.
Verizon notified users of plans to help correct the issue on their Twitter account.
"Galaxy S5 customers who see 'Warning: Camera Failed' please contact @VZWsupport and we'll work to resolve it, including replacing the device," the company said in the post.
One user told XDA Developers in a forum that they experienced the issue firsthand.
"I had this happen to my GS5 last week after using it for about 5 days," the individual said in the comments section of the forum.
The user, along with a Samsung associate from the company's experience set up in a Best Buy store, were able to find out the cause of the issue after the commenter returned with the product.
"I took it back to Best Buy mobile and their Samsung Experience Rep Flashed the factory binaries from an image (something similar to Odin) Factory reset. Still camera failed in the camera app and any app that uses the camera," the user stated. "In fact, if you try to open the camera in any other app like messaging etc. etc. it will force close that specific app and cause you to clear cache in said app. Samsung tech said it was definitely hardware related and promptly gave me a new phone."
A Samsung spokesperson told The Register the company strives to most effectively serve its customers.
"Samsung is committed to providing the best experience for customers," the company said in the statement.
Consumers with affected devices should contact Samsung at 1-888-987-4357. Associates at store locations are also available to assist, and will follow the company's standard limited warranty.
