Google is bringing its hotel and restaurant search to Google Search on Android.
Google, the world's largest search company, announced the integration of hotel and restaurant search on Android. The latest addition lets Android smartphone users run a quick search on hotel-related queries and get a list of hotels with an option to filter the search results based on price range, customer rating and opening hours, Google said in its official Google+ post, last Friday.
The latest move by Google is no surprise as the web giant has been adding travel-related products to its services since the acquisition of ITA Travel in 2010 for $700 million. Google already integrated the flight search into its voice search, giving its users the fastest way to look for flights, TechCrunch reports. Now, with its hotel search integration, Google brings data from several sources in one place for its users to make the right choice. Google Search on Android is now a complete tool for users to get any travel related queries.
"It's hard to make last-minute hotel and restaurant reservations in your price range, in the right neighborhood and with the right flair," Google said.
Google Search users on Android can find nearby hotels and restaurants by simply asking Google to "show me some restaurants in downtown Austin." Google returns with a list of hotels and lets users narrow down the results based on requirements. The query displays hotels and restaurants based on their ratings, but users can filter by price, cuisine and their timings too.
The feature is only available for users in the U.S., at least for now.
The latest attempt on enhancing mobile experience comes at a time when rivals such as Apple and Microsoft are extensively building on their mobile related services. The emphasis on voice search will help Google stay at par with its rivals trying to master the art of voice assistance on mobile with digital assistants such as Cortana and Siri.
