A teenage boy in Boston accused of fatally shooting his 9-year-old brother will be arraigned on Monday, WCVB-TV reported.
Juanly Pena, 14, will appear in Boston Juvenile Court following his April 18 indictment for allegedly killing his younger sibling, Janmarcos Pena, on Feb. 7 in their Dorchester home.
Pena faces charges of manslaughter and unlawful possession of a firearm, according to FoxNews.com.
The shooting occurred when the boys were home alone during a school day. Neighbors said the younger boy was home sick but were unsure of why the older brother was home, FoxNews.com said.
Authorities have not disclosed how Pena got the gun but said they don't believe anyone at their home knew he was in possession of it -- until it was too late.
Earlier this month, a 7-year-old girl in South Carolina was shot and killed by a 5-year-old boy who reportedly believed the gun he used was a toy.
"When he was fooling around trying to get his toy gun out, he accidentally pulled the trigger of the real gun while it was in the trunk," Lexington County Sheriff James Metts told WWMT-TV.
After the gun was fired, a bullet went through the car and fragments of it struck Juliet Lynch in the chest. She was pronounced dead at a hospital shortly after.
Some of the fragments also hit a second 5-year-old boy in the arm, though police said his injury is not life-threatening.
