Texas High School Student Arrested After Bringing Guns, Knife To School

A high school student in Texas was detained by authorities on Monday after he allegedly brought multiple weapons to school, according to The Associated Press.

Aubrey Chancellor, a spokeswoman for the North East Independent School District, said the student -- only identified as a 17-year-old male sophomore -- brought three loaded guns and a knife to James Madison High School. Additionally, more ammunition was found in the student's backpack.

An AK-47 was found in one of the school's bathrooms, the San Antonio Express-News reported.

Following the discovery, the school was placed on lockdown. There were no reports of shots fired or any injuries, the AP said.

Chancellor told the Express-News the student was upset with a teacher.

According to the NEISD, all of the weapons came from the boy's home and he planned to make a list of demands over the school's intercom system. If those demands were not met, he planned on threatening people with the weapons.

Earlier this morning, his parents had reported him as a runaway, a NEISD spokesperson told Fox San Antonio.

The lockdown was lifted at 11:30 a.m.

The boy's name has not been released and further details on the incident were not disclosed.
